At first glance, one might think that learning English on this beautiful island would come second, but in this case, it took center stage. This was the main aim of the entire trip. Thanks to the Erasmus+ KA1 project, four people from the ZUŠ were able to attend an English language course lasting two weeks.
While the time was short for studying the language, it still opened up horizons that we had not been able to explore before. The lessons were very intensive, with many new teaching methods that we would highly recommend for anyone.
In addition to the language course, Malta is an absolutely charming island, there are also two smaller islands that are part of Malta: Gozo and Comino. We managed to visit both of them. We also met many new people from all over the world.
The Maltese people themselves are very warm and always ready to help when needed. But it wasn’t just the Maltese we met. During our stay, we had the opportunity to meet and communicate with people from all corners of the world and gain at least a cursory understanding of their mentalities and opinions.
Being in such a place makes one realize how important coexistence and tolerance among different ethnicities, cultures, and religions are. Malta is a great example that this can work.
We also had the chance to attend an Open Air concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in the capital city, Valletta. This allowed us to gain a glimpse into the island’s musical life, listening not only to masterpieces by classical music giants but also to a local gospel choir performing with the Philharmonic Orchestra.
In those 14 days, we managed to achieve an incredible amount of things: improve our language skills, learn new teaching methods, experience the island’s culture, communicate with people of all nationalities, beliefs, and ages. It was an experience from which we will draw for a long time. We are grateful for it.
