Teachers from the ZUŠ (Czech School of Art) participated in the newly acquired Erasmus+ KA1 project - Job-shadowing, which is aimed at the education of staff, familiarization with different educational environments, and working methods. Job-shadowing, as the name suggests, involves visiting lessons in a partner school where the visiting educator, as an observer, watches the teaching style, student assessment, and expectations of students. Of course, the visitor may participate in the teaching. Both parties try to communicate in a common language – English.
The job-shadowing at the Conservatory in Alicante, Spain, was attended by two teachers: Iva Vrátilová (Piano) and Tomáš Novák (Percussion Instruments). In addition to observing teaching methods for musical instruments, the teachers also got familiar with the whole system of this specific type of education, its time allocation, and the local culture. Besides the music-focused subjects, the project participants also visited a dance school. An essential part of the project was also learning the basics of the Spanish language, which both colleagues started to study.
