On Friday, 22 October, three teachers – V. Toman, D. Lukáš, and J. Vedral – flew from our school to Alicante, Spain. The purpose of their trip was job shadowing and observing teaching methods at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música "Guitarrista José Tomás" d'Alacant.
On Monday morning, they were warmly welcomed by the conservatory's director and introduced to their respective instrument professors. J. Vedral participated in guitar lessons with Professor Riad Marco Smail MIras. V. Toman was introduced to the head of the percussion department, Adrián García Mesi, and D. Lukáš attended conducting and orchestral practice sessions with Jaimi Francisco Ripolli Martins.
The entire week was truly an incredible experience. Our teachers attended various lessons and orchestral practices, watched and learned from their Spanish colleagues, and even tried teaching in English. The atmosphere at the school was friendly and welcoming, and they really mastered many new teaching methods and approaches to working with students.
In addition to their time at the school, their Spanish colleagues prepared a rich cultural program, giving them the chance to explore Spanish culture and cuisine.
The Erasmus program was created to connect people from different countries and allow them to learn from each other. This trip fulfilled that philosophy in every way.
Our trio returned with renewed energy and is eager to introduce new methods into their teaching.
