The Erasmus+ programme offers countless opportunities for both personal and professional growth. As part of a language-learning stay, we, Petr Hošek and Anna Kubizňáková, travelled to sunny Malta. The aim of our journey was to improve our language skills, gain a fresh perspective in an international environment, and find new inspiration for our future work.
Intensive Learning and Discussions Without Borders
The course programme was varied and comprehensive. We worked on everything from the fundamentals of English to advanced grammar, as well as taking part in intensive conversation classes. The lessons took place in an exceptionally friendly and welcoming atmosphere under the guidance of supportive and helpful teachers.
Thanks to the multicultural composition of the classes, we had a natural opportunity to learn about and share different cultures. We did not focus solely on grammar exercises, but also engaged in discussions about important social issues and compared how education systems function in different countries.
Czech Art Schools as an International Phenomenon
One of the most interesting moments of the entire stay was the opportunity to share our experience of the Czech education system. Our international colleagues and teachers were particularly interested in the unique concept of Czech Basic Art Schools (ZUŠ).
Our well-developed and accessible system of arts education for children and young people was completely new to many of the participants. It sparked numerous curious questions and received a great deal of appreciation.
Looking Ahead
Our experience in Malta confirmed how important it is to overcome language barriers and remain open to new perspectives.
We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in this mobility and believe that the knowledge, experience, and energy we gained in Malta will be fully applied during future mobilities, whether in the Czech Republic or on further international projects abroad.
