The new international project EU_UP (Europe Update_Upskilling People) is, in one aspect, different from our previous projects (N.O.E. and AR.AC.N.E.). Its aim is to create a single cohesive output from all three mobilities – an international Portuguese-Czech-Norwegian theatrical performance.
How did it work?
The first stop was Escola Secundária de Caldas das Taipas, where our task was to develop the theme and storyline for the performance.
Students were introduced to each other, discussed generational issues, and spent time debating what makes their generation unique and what it loses compared to other generations. From these discussions, a shared generational narrative emerged, voiced by students of the same age from three different parts of Europe. These ideas and observations were gradually transformed into theatrical situations, which we recorded and later used for creating the script, which we worked on online.
In addition to theater, we tasted Pastel de Nata, Bacalhau, and Francesinha. We explored Caldas das Taipas, Porto, Braga, and Guimarães, meeting Norwegian students and Portuguese hosts.
Theater, food, beautiful cities, and welcoming Portuguese families – what more could we ask for? It was a beautiful experience.
