In mid-November 2018, the students from the Literary-Dramatic Department traveled from Choceň to Prague, from Prague to Frankfurt, and from Frankfurt to Tallinn, where they participated in the first mobility of the newly launched European Union Erasmus+ project ARACNE (Art achieves new Europe). This project connects five art schools that want to share their insights and skills in the field of visual arts.
Tallinna Kesklinna Vene Gymnasium in Tallinn had the honor of hosting students and teachers from the Czech Republic, Turkey, Romania, and Italy. Five brave theater artists with a true passion for visual arts excellently represented our school in this project. Our young artists stepped down from the stage and picked up brushes, pencils, and clay.
During the mobility, the students transformed their selfies on tablets into symbols of Estonia; explored Tallinn's architectural landmarks and were inspired by them for their upcoming creations; ate delicious pancakes; painted textiles featuring landmarks of the participating countries; dug in the clay until they made charming little houses; created abstract works in the style of Pollock; animated short stories on tablets; bowled; went on a trip to Pärnu, where they explored contemporary art, made painted cutting boards for their grandmothers; waded into the sea up to the heels of their sturdy winter boots; created national costumes for other countries; visited KUMU and Naguliste galleries; played new, previously unknown card games with new Estonian friends; decorated for the school’s 95th anniversary; participated in a FlashMob; attended a concert, watched a dance performance; and danced at the final disco.
